Christian Praise Song: Day by Day

Day by Day, is a beautiful Hymn that I put together a few months ago. I didn’t have very good equipment so please take that into consideration when listening 🙂

The reason I am adding it here today, even though it is not a great copy, is because I received some very bad news today. I have a friend that is dying of cancer and he was told a few weeks ago that he had 3 months to live. Sadly, after taking a biopsy, the results came back today and they told him that he only had a week at the most.

I am very saddened by this turn of events and very discouraged about it all. I remembered this particular song “Day by Day” and remembered how it has always gotten me through the tough times before. It puts my eyes on Jesus and reminds me that He is in control. This gives me some peace and I hope it will do the same for you no matter what you may be going through.

    Day by Day
Words by: Karolina Sandell-Berg (1865) Translated to English by: A.L. Skoog

1 Day By Day And With Each Passing Moment
Strength I Find To Meet My Trials Here
Trusting In My Father’s Wise Bestowment
I’ve No Cause For Worry Or For Fear

He Whose Heart Is Kind Beyond All Measure
Gives Unto Each Day What He Deems Best
Lovingly, Its Part Of Pain And Pleasure
Mingling Toil With Peace And Rest

2 Ev’ry Day The Lord Himself Is Near Me
With A Special Mercy For Each Hour
All My Cares He Fain Would Bear, And Cheer Me
He Whose Name Is Counsellor And Pow’r

The Protection Of His Child And Treasure
Is A Charge That On Himself He Laid
As Thy Days, Thy Strength Shall Be In Measure
This The Pledge To Me He Made

3 Help Me Then In Every Tribulation
So To Trust Thy Promises, O Lord
That I Lose Not Faith’s Sweet Consolation
Offered Me Within Thy Holy Word

Help Me, Lord, When Toil And Trouble Meeting
E’er To Take, As From A Father’s Hand
One By One, The Days, The Moments Fleeting
Till I Reach The Promised Land

    The Horse and Rider Song

I Will Sing Unto the Lord For He Has Triumphed Gloriously

The Horse and Rider Thrown into the Sea

I Will Sing Unto the Lord For He Has Triumphed Gloriously

The Horse and Rider Thrown into the Sea

The Lord, My God, My Strength My Song

    Has Now Become My Victory

The Lord, My God, My Strength My Song

    Has Now Become My Victory

The Lord is God and I will praise Him

My Fathers God and I will E-x-a-l-t Him

The Lord is God and I will praise Him

My Fathers God and I will Exalt Him!

Christian Praise: I Shall Not Be Moved

    I Shall Not Be Moved

The Christian Praise Song “I Shall Not Be Moved” is based on Psalm 1 from the Bible. I have written out the words to this famous gospel hymn below. Enjoy

    I SHALL NOT BE MOVED

Jesus is my Savior, I shall not be moved

In His love and favor I shall not be moved

Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters Lord

    I shall not be moved

    CHORUS:

I shall not be, I shall not be moved

I shall not be, I shall not be moved

Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters Lord

    I shall not be moved

In my Christ Abiding, I shall not be moved

In His love I’m hiding, I shall not be moved

Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters Lord

    I shall not be moved

    (chorus)

If I trust Him ever, I shall not be moved

He will fail me never, I shall not be moved

Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters Lord

    I shall not be moved

    (chorus)

On His Word I’m feeding, I shall not be moved

He’s the one that’s leading, I shall not be moved

Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters

    I shall not be moved

    (chorus)

Here is a nice version of the song sung by “The Gaithers”

Christian Praise: Not all Christian Praise Songs are Created Equal

    Not all Christian Songs Equal

Not all Christian Praise Songs are created equal. In fact, there are many so called “Christian Praise Songs” which I would not even consider appropriate to sing in churches today. A few years back, in the 90’s there was a song that people liked to sing which really bothered me tremendously. It was called “I Command Thee Satan”

    Here are the lyrics:

    I Command Thee Satan

In the Name of the Lord

To Drop Your Weapons and Flee

For the Lord Has Given Us Authority

    To Walk All Over Thee

I do realize that we have full authority over Satan so that really does not bother me, what does bother me is that by singing this Christian Praise Song or Chorus, aren’t we singing to Satan?

I believe that if we are to offer Christian Praise it should be actual Praise to God. I can see how we can rejoice in the fact that Satan has no power over us, and it is a very peppy tune and fun to sing, but to sing this song, in my opinion is singing to Satan and I really don’t feel that it should have a place in the church because of that.

I am sure you can think of many Christian Praise Songs, which can be doctrinally sound, but not really appropriate to be singing in church.

    What do you think?
